Ravenna's name comes from the name Raven, meaning "death" or "doom".
When Ravenna was a child, her mother taught her that beauty is a weapon to be used for protection. Since then Ravenna became obsessed with power and beauty: she believed that men exploited the beauty of women and discarded them when they lost it.
Ravenna drained the youth from the young women in order to maintain a spell once cast by her mother which allowed her to keep her beauty.
One day King of Tabor Magnus rescued her from the Dark Army, an invading force of glass soldiers. He was blinded by beauty of this young woman and married the beautiful Ravenna as soon as they came back to Tabor. Ravenna, who was in fact the Dark Army's master, killed Magnus on their wedding night and usurped control of the entire kingdom. ©Wikipedia
